The Tilehurst NatWest branch on School Road is under threat of closure.  After other banking closures in recent years, this would leave Tilehurst and all of west Reading without any banks, forcing residents to travel into Reading town centre to access banking services in person.

Local Lib Dem councillor Anne Thompson has called for NatWest to think again – and launched a petition calling for Tilehurst's last bank to remain open.

Anne said: “Many people in our area rely on this bank. Losing the last branch of any bank in our area will have a devastating impact on our local high street. Residents and businesses will be forced to travel into Reading town centre instead.”

Anne has also written to the bank to express her concerns about the plans. They are encouraging local people to get in touch and back the petition – which can be found here.
