Kentwood Hill land sale concerns residents
Lots of you have contacted us about the land around the Kentwood Hill allotments, that is being put up for sale by the Tilehurst People's Local Charity. The Charity wants to use the proceeds to increase the financial support they can offer to Tilehurst residents during these times of ever-increasing living costs that are forcing people into poverty.
Tilehurst Lib Dem Councillor Meri O’Connell says: “The Lib Dems believe that green spaces like this are precious assets which need protecting. The pressure to over-develop our area is having a major impact on our wildlife, our schools and our health services. We will oppose any development on our woodlands and parkland.
“We need more housing in Tilehurst, but the Lib Dems say we must have the type of housing we need in the places it is needed. We need affordable, energy efficient 2 and 3 bedroom houses, not whatever makes most profit for developers, and not on our green spaces.”
Residents who feel passionately about the threat of development here can appeal directly to the charity, and there will be a chance to express your views when developers submit planning permission to the Council. Residents who are concerned can also visit Keep Kentwood Green to share their views.
